Perhaps the most important aspect of the solution moving forward in time, is the fortification of the Domestic Church. Each of us, by virtue of our baptism, is pronounced priest, prophet and king. Fathers and mothers receive their mission from the Spirit, in the same way the clergy receive their mission to their seminarians, to sponsor, teach and guard them. It is in this household where the metaphorical birth of the Church begins, is sustained and eventually blossoms into the next generation of Catholics. As priests, the parent’s role is to minister the faith to the children from the goodness written in their hearts and the instruction the children receive from the Church. As prophets, the parents are the “mouth piece” of God. They speak to the children from the cradled grace of the Lord, as seen through the lenses of Catholicism; which are the doctrines of the Church, the wisdom of the ages and the experiences gained from everyday living. As kings, the parents become the executors and architects of the child; deciding on when and which building blocks will be used to galvanize the child into a successful young adult. This is not the simple exercise of authority; it is the loving tenderness of true strength, purpose and power.
